Geospatial Good Practices Dashboard

Online database of geospatial practices and Dashboard for reporting on the implementation of the Plan of Action on Space Applications for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific.

In 2018, ESCAP members and associate members ramped up regional cooperation on space applications by adopting the Asia-Pacific Plan of Action on Space Applications for Sustainable Development (2018–2030). The Plan of Action provides a blueprint to harness space technology, geospatial information, and digital innovations towards advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

This online database facilitates the sharing of good practices and experiences amongst countries and stakeholders. It also serves as a dashboard for tracking the implementation of the Plan of Action across its six priority thematic areas, namely: (a) disaster risk management; (b) natural resource management; (c) connectivity; (d) social development; (e) energy; and (f) climate change.

Information sources:

The geospatial application practices captured in this online database come from the submissions of ESCAP members and associate members to different channels, including the responses to secretariat surveys, as well as the country statements delivered during the annual session of the Intergovernmental Consultative Committee (ICC) on the Regional Space Applications Programme for Sustainable Development (RESAP). The inputs received by the secretariat towards ESCAP’s biennial compendium on Geospatial Practices for Sustainable Development from ESCAP members, associate members and partners, are also captured in this database.
