United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) serves as secretariat for UN-GGIM-AP since November 2018. The decision was made during the Seventh Plenary Meeting of UN-GGIM-AP in Deqing, China. This decision is in line with the resolution “Strengthening institutional arrangements on geospatial information management” of the Economic and Social Council from 2016.
As secretariat, ESCAP supports the Executive Board and the member States to strengthen the capacity of the member States in geospatial information management and to facilitate the dissemination of the outcomes and benefits of the activities of the Committee to the member States in the region.
UN-GGIM-AP is serviced by the Space Applications Section, the Information and Communications Technology and Disaster Risk Reduction Division (IDD) supported by the Statistics Division.
